En julio de 2011, The Vulcanos éramos una banda joven y pujante que jamás había publicado un tema. Teníamos un disco grabado, pero no conseguíamos editarlo como considerábamos que el material lo merecía (el mundo era otro, recordémoslo), y, así, solo era posible escucharnos en vivo. Y, aunque tocábamos seguido, creíamos que no era suficiente.

Dispuestos a subsanar eso, nos internamos en el estudio de grabación para hacernos de un demo. Fue un domingo por la mañana, cuando la sala estaba cerrada, y un amigo que trabajaba en el lugar se ocupó de todo. En un clima distendido, tomamos caña, mate y café, comimos galletitas de jengibre y grabamos en vivo, tocando los cuatro como una sola entidad. Como no queríamos rehacer material del disco por entonces inédito ni lidiar con registros, propiedad intelectual ni trámites de ningún tipo, elegimos siete u ocho versiones de nuestro repertorio, canciones ajenas pero propias ya de tan trajinadas, y las tocamos con gusto y precisión.

Las sesiones iban a continuar el fin de semana siguiente, algo que, al final, no sucedió. Pocos meses después, a fines de ese mismo 2011, nuestro esperado disco debut, 'Meet the Vulcanos', vio la luz. Empezó con él una nueva etapa, y estas grabaciones invernales quedaron en el olvido. Hasta ahora.

In July 2011, The Vulcanos were a young and thriving band that had never released a track before. We had a recorded album, but we couldn't release it as we thought the material deserved it (the world was different, let's remember), and so it was only possible to listen to us live. And, although we played often, we thought it was not enough.

Willing to make up for that, we went into the recording studio to make a demo. It was a Sunday morning, when the place was closed, and a friend who worked there took care of everything. In a relaxed atmosphere, we drank caña, mate and coffee, ate gingerbread cookies and recorded live, the four of us playing as one. Since we didn't want to recreate material from the then unreleased album or deal with registrations, intellectual property or any kind of paperwork, we chose seven or eight versions of our repertoire, songs that were not our own but that were already so well known, and we played them with taste and precision.

The sessions were to continue the following weekend, which, in the end, did not happen. A few months later, at the end of 2011, our long-awaited debut album,'Meet the Vulcanos,' was released. A new phase began with it, and these winter recordings were forgotten. Until now.
